Bifest 99 press release (version 2):

BiFest - The London Bisexual Festival

A festival about Girls and Boys who like Girls and Boys

Dear Reader

The London Bisexual Festival (BiFest) which is the first ever festival in the UK about Bisexuals and Bisexuality, takes place at the University of London Union, Malet Street, London W1, on 13th February 1999, early noon till round midnight.

Q. What will be happening at Bifest?

A. Music; Bands; Performance; Comedy; Film and video shows; Art exhibitions; Info-zone; Stalls and lots more. It's going to be one big celebration of all things Bi.

Already confirmed for top billing at BiFest will be Tom Robinson in concert, famous of course for "Glad to be Gay" and chart hits such as "2 4 6 8 Motorway" and "War Baby". In support we have Single Bass. There will be top comedy from Stefan Leekie and new bi comedienne Laura Swift, who made her debut at the 1998 National Bisexual Conference, and wowed the audience with her razor sharp timing.

We are very happy to announce that we will be holding an exhibition of the cartoons of Rachael House at BiFest. Rachael's cartoons with their incisive humour are famous on the Bi scene, and we hope this exhibition will deservely bring them to the attention of a wider audience.

Many more acts and events will be confirmed closer to the event. We expect to go to press with a full programme of events in early January.

Bi-Fest will be preceeded with a parade through Central London to the Festival, possibly the first time there has been a parade to celebrate bisexuality.

Bi-Fest is organised by the London Bisexual Group, which at 17 years is one of the UK's longest established bi groups.
